The best thing about the festive Christmas season is the perfect excuse to make abundant bouquets and tabletop arrangements any way I like! The pleasure of giving and creating is overwhelming. I want to thank all of my friends and family who have made this year as good as it has been for me.

Not all of the above techniques are ikebana, but variety is a spice of life.

Christmas Greens for 2013

A planted Christmas arrangement made of green materials only. There is one small white azalea that is in bloom, but it blends in with the white shades of the nerve plant (Fittonia verschaffeltiiā€ˇ). The other plants are maidenhair vine (Muehlenbeckia complexa), common ivy (Hedera helix), a star or rose-shaped sempervivum, and a taller silver-coated plant whose name I can’t recall.

White Amaryllis

Image2081[1]A Christmas bouquet with a white amaryllis stem as the main flower, supported by pink miniature roses and a white carnation. The idea was to combine the triangular shape of the amaryllis with circular-shaped flowers and to place the flowers on different levels. The first option was to use a red or white germini, but I felt like replacing it with the roses. A silver cone and ribbon, and a white angel bring a bit of Christmas feeling to this otherwise neutral/romantic composition. Teacher: R.Raita.
