Soft Skin

This arrangement was made at a very difficult time in my life, hence the fragile simplicity. I was only barely able to make this basic ikebana work, because I was recovering from a big surgery and thus under heavy pain medication. My movements were limited so I only used two materials my husband had acquired for me, because I needed to get something done. To start somewhere. This was it. In my mind, the colour of the flowers represents my skin, still vulnerable and tender to touch, but getting better.

Giverny on My Mind

Purple clouds of petals float in a jade green ceramic pond. It’s February in Finland and I felt like escaping the dull and wet gray scenery into this basic moribana composition, which creates an atmosphere of scented harmony. I have never been to Giverny, but this is what I picture it to be like.
