This year’s second exhibition was in a lovely cafĂ© called Four Seasons.(http://www.neljavuodenaikaa.fi)

Our group of four arranged this exhibition in the honor and celebration of our first teacher level graduation in Sogetsu ikebana. This was our shared creation: a fresh green and white wall piece resting in a Japanese vase kindly lent to us by Shunran sensei.

The best thing about the festive Christmas season is the perfect excuse to make abundant bouquets and tabletop arrangements any way I like! The pleasure of giving and creating is overwhelming. I want to thank all of my friends and family who have made this year as good as it has been for me.

Not all of the above techniques are ikebana, but variety is a spice of life.

Rooted Lime

This arrangement plays with contrasts: it’s a combination of painted material (black and white), natural elements, some of which are fresh and others dry, and lines, some of which are curvy and others rather straight. The lime green colour of the asclepias is one of my favourites.
